🪄 Module 1: Never Miss a Lead

Slack Alerts for New Opportunities

Written by Thibaut Vanderhofstadt

👉 Follow me, it’s just 3 clicks. This is the easiest way to start with Sortlist Integrations. In less than 5 minutes, you’ll get a Slack ping every time a new opportunity matches your profile.

No more refreshing. No more missed emails. Just instant alerts, right where you and your team are active all day.

I will provide you with two easy steps: one to help you quickly set up the connection and automation, and a second to help you understand the process of building your first Zap. If you are not familiar with Zapier, I recommend doing the exercise of building the Zap from scratch to better understand how it works and its potential 😉.

For those who don’t have time, let’s do the fastest way (1 minute):

-> link here

The Fast Way (1 minute)

  1. Go to here

  2. Log in to Zapier.

  3. Connect your Sortlist account.

  4. Pick the profile linked to your Sortlist user account.

  5. Test the Zap.

  6. Connect your Slack account.

  7. Select the channel where you want to receive Sortlist opportunity notifications.

  8. Test again.

  9. 🎉 Boom — you’ve integrated Sortlist with Slack!

The Custom Way (5 minutes)

ps: If you are not familiar with Zapier, we invite you to follow their awesome online training that covers all the Zapier topics you need to know to build your first Zap: here.

🛠 Step 1 – Create Your Zap

  1. Head over to Zapier.

  2. Click “Create Zap”.

  3. For the Trigger App, search and select Sortlist.

  4. Choose the trigger: Opportunity Received.

🛠 Step 2 – Connect Sortlist

  1. Zapier will ask you to log into your Sortlist account.

  2. Authorize the connection (takes 10 seconds).

  3. Select Your Provider profile you want to connect eg: Thisisatest

  4. Test it — Zapier should fetch a sample opportunity.

🛠 Step 3 – Choose Slack as the Action

  1. For the Action App, search for Slack.

  2. Select “Send Channel Message.”

  3. Connect your Slack Account

  4. Pick the Slack channel where your team wants to receive opportunities (tip: you can create a #leads channel on Slack just for this for instance).

🛠 Step 4 – Customize Your Message

Paste this template into the Slack message field and replace each placeholder with the correct data field from the Sortlist trigger:

🔥 New Sortlist Opportunity!
Title: {{Title}}
Expertise: {{Expertise}}
Locations: {{Location}}
Budget: {{Budget Min}} - {{Budget Max}}
Company Size: {{Company Size Min}} - {{Company Size Max}}
Opportunity Link: {{Opportunity Link}}
Opportunity ID: {{ID}}

Note: You can easily add any data field from the Opportunity Received trigger and customize your Slack message however you like! It’s super powerful — tailor the message to highlight the info you care about most, make faster decisions on whether to apply, and ensure you never miss an interesting opportunity. eg: Opportunity Title, Expertise, Location, Budget, etc… To better understand the data available in Opportunity Received and enable more customization, you can always dive into our Trigger Data Documentation 👉 Opportunity Received Explained

🛠 Step 5 – Test & Turn It On

  1. Click “Test Action.”

  2. Check your Slack channel — you should see a test opportunity pop up instantly.

  3. If everything looks good, click “Publish Zap.” 🎉

Congrats you have activate your first Sortlist integration with Zapier ⚡!

You’ve just unlocked instant reactivity. From now on, you’ll never miss a lead — your team will always be the first to know.

Time spent: < 5 minutes.

👉 Next step, Module 2: Export your opportunities into Google Sheets to understand your data and build your own dashboard.
